Little Bayou Water Trail
The Little Bayou Water Trail on Bayou Bartholomew has access with boat ramps at both ends. The Bayou is relatively wide in this area. It offers views of riparian forests along its banks. The banks appear steep in summer at low flow and not nearly as high during winter. The Bayou fluctuates nearly 20 feet in this area depending on season and rainfall. It also offers good fishing for catfish including flathead catfish. A boat with motor can be used most of the year. However, during summer the stream becomes quite shallow in some areas. Large amounts of woody debris are located in the channel and one should use caution. This area is inhabited by black bears and if lucky the traveler will view one of these large carnivores. Other wildlife species abound. Fall offers a magnificent view of leaf color. Each season presents quite different views of the Bayou.
