Cane Creek Water Trail
The Cane Creek Water Trail near Cane Creek State Park offers incredible scenery within the Bayou channel. It is lined by large cypress towering above the water. Both our national symbol, the bald eagle and the osprey nest in these towering giants. Waterfowl during late fall into winter. Fishing can be excellent for crappy, spotted bass, and catfish. Camp sites are available at Cane Creek State Park a short distance away. The water trail goes upstream for quite a distance but eventually is blocked by weirs built in the 1940’s. Downstream one can get to a highway bridge near Meroney. There is no access at this point and a return trip to the boat ramp is necessary.
